MOBILITAS SOSIAL-EKONOMI DAN ADAPTASI TRANSMIGRAN: STUDI KASUS DI KALIMANTAN BARAT

Abstract

This study examines the socioeconomic mobility and adaptation strategies employed by transmigrants in West Kalimantan. The transmigration program, aimed at population redistribution and regional development, often presents significant challenges for migrants in integrating with new environments. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research analyzes how transmigrants leverage resources, develop social networks, and transform their livelihoods to improve their social and economic status. The findings indicate that adaptation is not a passive process but rather a dynamic strategy involving individual and collective agency. Economic mobility is demonstrated through the diversification of enterprises from the agricultural to the non-agricultural sector, while social mobility is achieved through participation in local organizations and increased access to education. The study concludes that the successful integration of transmigrants is highly dependent on their ability to adapt and build social capital when facing an unfamiliar environment.
